Post-Holiday Returns & Deals!

If you received a gift that wasn’t your size or style, don’t fret, about 25% of all returns happen during the holidays. I shared some tips for hassle-free returns and the best post-Holiday deals on the Today Show this morning, check it out and find the awesome info below!

http://www.today.com/video/after-christmas-deals-to-grab-it-s-the-perfect-time-to-buy-a-treadmill-841590339765

—Don’t fight the crowds on the return lines the day after Christmas; grab some of the advertised bargains instead. Go back a day or two later.

—To improve your chances of getting full credit, provide a sales slip or gift receipt, return the item in new condition, unopened, and with all packaging material.

— Typically returns without a receipt are subject to the posted return policy, which might result in your receiving only a merchandise credit for the lowest price the item has sold for recently, or possibly no refund or exchange at all.

—While some impose no time limits for returns and make it easy to get your money back, others allow only a few days and have strict requirements for refunds.  Here are some stores to look out for:

Return Anytime:

Researchers from the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Texas at Dallas found that the longer a store allows its customers to return something after purchasing, the less likely they are to ever actually return it. If there’s a deadline, you take action more quickly. But if you don’t feel pressure to take it right back to the store, then you tend to sit with it and live with it and say, ‘Well it’s not that bad,’” If you’ve ever found a blouse lurking in the back of your closet with the tags on it months after you bought it, this is probably a familiar feeling.

It’s long been known to loyal Nordstrom shoppers that they have one of the best return policies going. Nordstrom doesn’t really have a return policy. On its website, the retailer claims it handles returns on a “case-by-case basis with the ultimate objective of satisfying the customer.” However: Special-occasion dresses cannot be returned if the tag indicating that the item can’t be returned if removed is removed from the dress.

L.L.Bean Lands’ End & Eddie Bauer all have 100 percent lifetime guarantee. If anything falls short of their standard you can return at anytime, including items you purchased a couple weeks, months or even years that you’ve decided just isn’t right for you. Also includes Lands’ End monigramed items. Full refund or exchange with receipt, store credit without receipt.

Bath & Body Works’ Return Policy states: “If at any time you’re not completely satisfied with the quality of our products, you may return them to any of our Bath & Body Works stores.” If you return online orders to a store, you’ll receive cash or a gift card. And if you don’t have a receipt, you’ll receive an exchange or a store credit on the item’s lowest selling price.

Anthropologie lets customers return all items – except furniture and oversized items – at any time (furniture and oversized items must be returned within 30 days). Online purchases can be returned with a pre-paid label, but a $5.95 will be deducted from your refund. So, you might opt to return your Anthropologie items to a store.

Up to 1 Year:

Zappos allows customers up to a year to return items in their unworn, original condition in the original packaging. Plus, shipping is free on returns with the prepaid UPS shipping label that you can print by logging onto your account on Zappos.com.

Macy’s accepts returns within a year of purchase. Restrictions apply to mattresses in which the store allows 60 days to 120 days to try your purchase. Then, you have 14 days after that period to contact the retailer to schedule a return and charged an $85 pick-up fee plus a 15 percent fee.

You can return almost anything at Bloomingdale’s within 365 days. Just make sure your item is in saleable condition. If you don’t have a receipt but have a Bloomingdale’s account, your account will be credited. Without a store account, you’ll receive a merchandise credit for the lowest selling price in the past 180 days. Bloomingdales.com also offers free returns on online orders.

IKEA boasts a “no-nonsense” return policy, which allows you to return items within 365 days with a receipt. If you don’t have a receipt, the furniture store will try to find the purchase. And if that fails, you can get a store credit for the item’s lowest selling price in the past year.

Extended Holiday Return Period:

Many retailers are offering special extended holiday return windows this holiday (see below). This allows gifts bought in November to be returned until mid- to late-January, considerably beyond the normal return deadline in some cases.

Kohl’s typically allows premium electronics to be returned in original packaging within 30 days. However, premium electronics purchased from Nov. 1 to Dec. 25, 2016, may be returned by Jan. 31, 2017.

Amazon has a 30-day return policy for most items. However, items shipped between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2016, may be returned until Jan. 31, 2017 except. Baby items – other than clothing – can be returned within 90 days. Books purchased from the Kindle store can be returned within seven days. And some purchases, such as AmazonFresh items, can’t be refunded.

At T.J. Maxx, you can return unused items for a refund within 30 days. However, if you buy an item between Oct. 16 and Dec. 24, 2016, you can return it by Jan. 23, 2017.

ToysRUs - Extended returns till January 28, 2017.

No Receipt, No Problem*

Kids clothing retailer Carters will give you a merchandise exchange for the current selling price.

Returns at Bed Bath & Beyond can be made with a receipt or packing slip for a refund in the original form of payment. If you don’t have a receipt, Bed Bath & Beyond can try to track down purchases made in the past 365 days. If the purchase can’t be tracked down, you’ll receive store credit or an exchange for the current selling price of the product less 20 percent.
