Summer time, and the flowers are easy… ‘Tis the season of sun-warmed rose petals, hazy green horizons, and bees a’ plenty. Time to smell the roses, and pick ‘em! Never felt confident enough to make your own floral arrangements? We’re showing you a plethora of simple arrangements that you can throw together in a flash. Plus, it’s flora from our Mother Nature, you really can’t screw this up! And if you aren’t picking pretty things from your own garden or wild field, play nice!
Toss ‘em in. Sometimes less is more, so pick a few flowers in different shades and cut them at different lengths. When you throw them in a jar they will naturally cluster at the different heights.
Use the flower’s strength. This elegant centerpiece uses the beauty of a sunflower’s naturally tall and strong stalk.
Cascade the flowers upward, putting small things lower, and gradually placing larger flowers and taller stems behind. And don’t trim too much of that green. Just make sure there aren’t many leaves or extra green stuff below the water line.
Remember your herb garden? They are beautiful too, and o-so-fragrant! Harness their simple beauty by combining a flowering herb with a green one.
Rustic roses, they just cant be screwed up. Cluster some, but keep a few taller. When you trim the stems, make sure you freshly cut the bottom at a slant. Stir in some sugar for a quick flower food.
Find a focal point. Pick a flower with some gorgeous color and shape, and cut stems of accenting and smaller sizes to cascade up and around, or beneath and next to it.
And just because country roses really are just SO incredible, we had to show you another. Happy picking!feat. image via Holliann.tumblr
