I love my morning routine so I thought I’d share it with you! It took me sometime to come up with a routine that worked best for me, which was to be more productive in the morning.

The Night Before
The night before I set my alarm for 6:30 AM! Next, I set out my clothes, accessories, jewelry, etc. so that I don’t waste any time in the morning.
6:30am Wakeup Call
It was always a struggle to wake up early. I struggled with 5:30am and 6:00am so I decided the best time for me to wakeup without hitting the snooze button is at 6:30am!
I use my phone as an alarm clock but I place it out of arm’s reach so I actually have to get up to turn it off. I place my phone down and I don’t look at it for another 10 minutes.
Sunlight & Making the Bed
It’s so important to me that I make my bed in the morning right after I wake up. When I come back home from a long day of work or school I want to see a clean room so my bed must be neatly made.
Also, I open the blinds to let sunlight in. Now that it’s summer, the warmth of the sun really helps give me some motivation to begin the day.
Drink Lemon Water
I drink a cup of lemon water to help improve my digestion, hydrate my body, and give my energy a boost.
Prayer, Meditation, Journaling
I take about 10 to 15 minutes to either pray, meditate, or write. Sometimes you can almost do all three at the same time with practice. There are so many apps to help you learn meditation such as Headspace.
During this time, I focus on what I am grateful for and what goal I would like to accomplish that day. Prayer helps me maintain my religious and spiritual relationship. Meditation helps me destress and focus on self-care. Journaling helps me get out all my morning thoughts or concerns on paper so I don’t have to stress about them throughout the day.
I like change up my morning exercise routine daily. But each day I start off with dynamic stretching to wake up my muscles. Next I will either do some outside cardio such as walking my dog or going for a light jog. Then I finish my morning exercise routine with some sun salutation yoga, Blogilates, or different combos of squats, push ups, planks, and ab workouts.
I devote a good 15-20 minutes to exercise in the morning because during the day I can get distracted. Morning exercise helps me not stress about making time for exercise during the busy day.
Wash Up and Get Ready
This seems obvious but it’s important that I show my outside appearance some love too. I have my outfit picked out the night before, which is extremely helpful and stress free. I take a warm shower, brush my teeth, do my hair, and put on my makeup.
Also my purse or bag for the day, is already packed and ready to go so that 1) I don’t forget anything and 2) I don’t have to rush to fill it with misc. items.
This is the final part of my morning routine. I make myself high protein eggs with spinach, avocado, and a cup of berries. This is my favorite kind of breakfast because it fills me up and gives me a lot of good energy. If I truly need a caffeine boost, I will have some green tea or black coffee.
Create Your Own Morning Routine
This post is meant to inspire you to create your own simplified morning routine. My best advice if you’re just starting to create your own, is to build up to it. You are not going to wake up and get this all done in one shot. It takes time to build habit and routine, especially, if you are not a morning person. I would try adding one thing to your morning routine each week. So for example,
Week 1: Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than your usual wake up time
Week 2: Try making yourself a good breakfast
Week 3: Swap out your morning coffee for lemon water
Week 4: Exercise with some yoga
That’s just a basic idea of what I mean, adding one thing to your morning routine each week will help your mind and body adjust. Next thing you know, you’re productive, successful morning person!
What do you think of my morning routine? What does your morning routine look like? What is something you could do every morning that would help you feel more productive, motivated, and awake?
