I interviewed a cool Mexi-Cali surfer chick named Kassia Meador to find out her beauty routine and one thing she mentioned that stuck out to me was that she does “oil pulling” every morning.
Oil pulling has become a thing these last couple of years and you don’t know what it is, let me tell ya all about it! An Ayurvedic cleansing practice, oil-pulling uses oil, like coconut, olive, or sesame, to “pull” toxins and bacteria that have accumulated in your mouth overnight.
To do: right when you wake up you take a tbsp of oil and swish it in your mouth, it will soon turn into a foamy liquid. Most people say you should swish for about 20, but I’ve heard 5 can suffice done regularly. When times up, spit oil into trash (so it doesn’t clog your pipes) and voila, a sparkly, clean mouth. I’ve tried it and you really do feel super clean aprés pulling. Because your oral health effects your whole body (and you’re eliminating toxins) many practitioners claim to also have brighter skin! Try it out and let me know how it goes in the comments section below!
PS-I used regular coconut oil, but Kassia recommends Magic Mouth Oil Pull, $22, magicmouthoilpull.com
